Thanksgiving will be here in a few short hours. I've been baking chocolate pie and carrot cake this evening and I'll get up bright and early in the morning to finish our buttermilk pie and sweet potato casserole. My kids have all arrived and they make the house seem warm and lovingly noisy. They've been begging for a piece of pie but I'm making them wait til tomorrow! Is that mean?
So here are our plans for tomorrow - we're going out to the Owen Family get together at the lake around noon and while we're there we'll hang out with all the kids and visit and attempt to take a family picture. Who knows if this will work but I always try. I'm not sure how come this is SO difficult. Around mid-afternoon we'll drive from Scottsboro to Arab (where I was born!) to eat dinner at my grandmother's house with my parents and some of my family. We'll have my mom's dressing and maybe some chicken and dumplings and homemade green beans. Plus the homemade desserts I'm making. Yum. Yum. Can't wait. I'm sure I'll need to walk many miles to walk this off!
As for the rest of our time off, we'll be setting up the Christmas tree and decorating the house. We have a short Christmas season to enjoy it this year because we're heading to DisneyWorld Dec. 16th! We will try to go to see "Australia" while the kids are home and then on Saturday we will be focusing on one thing - the IRON BOWL! (that reminds me, I need to go wash my sweatshirt!) Philip (my oldest son who is a student at the U of A) came in with his beard much longer than I've ever seen it and I told him I wanted him to trim it prior to pictures. He immediately said "NO! I can't do that! Not while we have a winning streak going! I can't trim it unless we lose!" So I guess Philip's beard will be longer than I'd like in our picture because we certainly don't want to do anything to jeapordize a Bama win over Auburn. :)
So what are you doing with your holiday? How will you celebrate?
