This morning we did something different at church. Richard, our interim pastor, is out of town visiting his family and we wanted to give our staff a small break so we used a Francis Chan DVD for the teaching today. Our student pastor, Josh, had heard this message at the National Youth Workers conference last month in Nashville, and was blown away by it. We were too! Francis really brought up alot of good questions and challenged us to live out an Acts 2 church. His message was not only challenging, it was downright scary!!!
His main point is that it takes COURAGE to live like Jesus taught and like the Acts 2 church lived. Do we want to end this life and not accomplish what God has for us to do or not speak on what God has us to speak on because we lacked the courage to do so?
Because the sermon was longer than usual for us we had a shorter time of worship and no worship at the end at all. We started rehearsal with a bang. The computer would not come on. Robert Ross (one of our tech gurus) was thankfully singing today so he figured it out. John Price, who handles our computer systems, came in and worked on it, but all to no avail. He will have to take it home and operate I'm afraid! I'm really proud of our tech team members because they worked out this solution. They swapped to the computer we have presently dedicated to sound and Callie Smith, our service director for the day, entered all our lyrics into powerpoint slides and away we went! Not quite as smooth as a regular Sunday using MediaShout but stuff happens and we handled it as well as we could I thought. Lessons learned? Load MediaShout and all lyrics onto the sound computer in case this happens again and upload our files to the server!
Today really was a sweet time of worship. People really engaged and I could see them singing with all of their hearts. Once again, I am so thankful for my church family. There's nothing like the view I get each week of seeing people connect with God.
Here's the set list - short and simple.
1) My Redeemer Lives - Reuben Morgan - Hillsong
2) Your Grace is Enough - Tomlin style
3) I Stand Amazed - Passion version
It was also great to have fellow worship leader Billy Chia and his sweet wife Sarah visit with us today! Go check out his blog at BillyChia.com.
I also wanted to share that we have received $6000 so far for Living Water International as a part of our Advent Conspiracy series and all checks have not been counted! With only $1000 more we could provide a whole community well!
WAY TO GO BROOK FAMILY!
This post is a part of Sunday Setlists over at FredMcKinnon.Com. Go check out what others did this Sunday! For all of you worship leaders especially, I hope you'll drop back by here tomorrow as I write about some of my thoughts as a worship leader on what Frances shared in his message. I'd love for you to join in the discussion.
SO! How was YOUR Sunday?
Hey Jan,
I'm jealous that you got to hang out w/ Billy and Sarah today! Thanks for posting the setlist!

How great to have Billy worshipping with you today.
I like the fact you changed it up. Sweet.
People need that occasionally.
